WRITTEN NOTICE
To Whomsoever It May Concern,
I. Introduction
I am writing to notify you of my intention to transport and house a water bed in my leased unit (Building C, Unit 237). Per our leasing agreement, I am providing you with a four-week advance written notice of my intention to do so and have included a detailed plan for the transport, installation, and care of the aforementioned water bed. If you have any questions or suggested alterations to the care plan, please write me back as soon as possible so that I can ensure the implementation of said suggested alterations.
II. Transport
The water bed will be transported to the unit by a team of trained individuals employed by the furniture company from which the mattress was procured. I have confirmed that they will be transporting the bed wrapped in a protective plastic sleeve that will prevent the spilling of the internal liquid in the unlikely case that the bed is punctured during transit. These individuals are highly rated and, I have been assured, highly effective at performing the very specialized task at hand. Although I believe it to be a redundancy, I have set up telephone interviews with each of the scheduled movers two days prior to the transport process so that I may personally vet each of them and their credentials before they report for work on the day of the move.
III. Installation
Perhaps the most important part of this entire process, the installation will be handled as a joint operation. I will work in tandem with the movers to ensure the proper set-up of the water bed as well as the proper disposal of any water-bed-related packaging materials that may need to be shed during the installation process. The waste will be recycled, potentially into ‘new’ packaging materials meant to transport hypothetical water beds in the not-too-distant future.
The mattress itself is being placed on an already-purchased and installed plastic safety liner designed specifically for the catching of water in the unlikely event of a rupture in the bed itself. The safety liner fits snuggly inside the bed frame, which was manufactured customarily for this purpose. Underneath the bed frame is the temperature control pad which will regulate the water within the bed to ensure a proper internal environment conducive to ‘healthy water’ (this is to say, free of algae or mold). This component rests on the pedestal, or base, of the entire setup which also features a set of four-by-four wooden internal cross-support beams for extra, added safety. I have already procured these peripheral items and have them set up in my leased unit, ready and waiting to receive the water bed itself.
IV. Care
‘A well-kept water bed, in near-perfect condition, will not have to have its water replaced annually.’ This excerpt from the second edition of the Water Bed Maintenance Handbook has become my dogma of recent and expresses the golden standard of care which I hope to achieve through the following plan. Although a large portion of the following section may be commonplace knowledge, I have chosen to detail the intended care plan supposing the reader may not even have a cursory knowledge of water bed maintenance and care.
The water bed will be well-ventilated throughout the day. In order to properly achieve this, the bedsheets and blankets will be removed every morning and reset each night, just before I allow myself to go to sleep. Prior to their nightly resetting, I will employ the use of a moisture-regulating washcloth designed to absorb perspiration mixed with a specialized vinyl cleaning solution. This will keep the bed’s material from weakening which could create a potentially dangerous leakage situation, which must be avoided at all costs. My dedication to this regiment in this matter is paramount, not only for the prevention of an aforementioned leakage situation in your apartment but to prevent any damage to my belongings or the water bed itself.
In addition to this daily care routine, I will be employing the use of a water bed conditioner solution every two months to prevent the formation of odors. Further, I will be using the same brand of conditioner for each of these bi-monthly sessions as I have been warned by fellow water bed enthusiasts and care experts alike that mixing brands may lead to the formation of new, chemical odors. For the good of both myself and any surrounding units, I have already purchased several years’ worth of conditioning products to avoid this possibility.
V. Conclusion
I sincerely hope that my proposed plan for the transport, installation and care of my water bed is satisfactory and can be approved post-haste. Again, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask them of me. I will be happy to respond. In terms of amending the plan, please provide me with specific, actionable points that can be easily implemented prior to the delivery of the bed so that I may have ample time to contact the movers and make note of them. I hope that you have found my letter not only informative but also potentially inspiring. If so, I have numerous local water bed salesmen I can put you in touch with.
Thank you for your time,
Saul F.

P.S. I now realize I have completely forgotten to mention I intend to keep a small aquarium of exotic fish within the water bed, but I believe the transport, installation, and care of this ecosystem are all self-explanatory, so I will save you the read. All the best and thanks again!
