THERE IS NO STORY TODAY
There were no stories last month and there is no story today.
There are a lot of reasons why there is no story today but the paramount one is that stories are notoriously difficult to catch. You must be in a perfect catching position or otherwise have set up traps about the house (or surrounding areas) to successfully capture one. Maintaining this position (or the viability of these traps) is also notoriously difficult work. The writer is not afraid of difficult work, but difficult work can be difficult to achieve sometimes so there were no stories last month and there is no story today.
Another reason there is no story today is that the author’s shoelaces have been wiggly as of late. This has made it difficult to tie them and, with loose shoes, it has been very difficult to leave the house (as you might well relate). The best stories often reside outside of the home and so with wiggly shoelaces, a person would have very little-to-no chance to catch (let alone encounter) these sorts of stories so there is no story today just as there were no stories last month.
One time, a long time ago, stories did not even have to be caught. At the time, stories almost seemed to resign themselves to the author. Maybe they desired the comfortable knowledge of tomorrow that comes with a life of domesticity. Now they run wild, more exciting but more elusive! If your shoelaces are wiggly and your shoes flop about you cannot run and have no chance to catch up to quick stories. They just get away and there is no story today.
Today, today, today. There is no story. Maybe next week or later. When the shoelaces are less wiggly.
This would make an incredible children's book, good luck catching those stories!
